What actions do I need to take if PROMATECT®-250 gets wet during construction?
We would recommend the following procedure to check any PROMATECT®-250 boards which have been affected by water ingress:
A close visual inspection of all affected areas looking for any signs of surface breakup, delamination or crumbling. We would also recommend a surface "scratch" test with a scraper or screwdriver, the surface should be hard and solid and not crumbly, flaky, soft or delaminating. A clean unaffected piece of PROMATECT®-250 should be used as a reference sample. Any boards failing to meet the above should be replaced.
All staples should be fully embedded and not showing signs of rust. If there are rusting staples but the board face is still solid then additional new staples can be added between the existing ones to ensure that the boards are securely fixed. Providing the boards meet the above inspection tests then, in our opinion, they can remain in position and do not need replacing. It is difficult to remove staining so if there are any badly stained boards they should be replaced if they are visually not acceptable.
Promat boards should not have running water over the surface or water pooling on them for an extended time and it is important that the source of the leak/water ingress in identified and rectified.
