Promat structural steel fire protection boards are not designed to be left permanently exposed to the environment.

Promat offers two structural steel board solutions, Promatect®-XW  for up to 60 minutes fire performance and Vermiculux®-S  for up to 240 minutes, which can be left exposed for up to 6 months during the construction phase, subject to the following qualifications: the boards must not be left in standing or pooling water or be subjected to any water run-off from roof or slab structures above (protection can be provided by temporary waterproofing measures) and all cut edges should be sealed prior to installation to help prevent any long-term moisture ingress. This is particularly important when considering structural protection to perimeter/edge beams.
